School Specialty recently released Path Driver for Reading, an online screening and progress monitoring platform that predicts reading proficiency for students in grades K-10 using research-based assessments. Educators can schedule automatic oral fluency assessments, monitor progress, and view progress reports that include intervention history.

Developed by educators and launched in February 2011, observe4success is a Web-based classroom walk-through and observation tool that is compatible with any touchscreen device. The comprehensive one-page form is customizable, provides accountability for building principals, and can be emailed to provide instant feedback to educators. Teachers can review progress during the school year, and principals can view school trends.

Wowzers is a new adaptive, games-based, online learning program for grades 3-5. The curriculum was built around the Common Core State Standards and features daily objectives for students based on their skill level. Formative assessments are used in each lesson, and students can take the curriculum with them anywhere they go, as this program works on PCs and Apple and Android devices.

Knovation updated its netTrekker search tool just in time for a new school year. With netTrekker’s 330,000 digital resources, it’s now easier to find resources aligned to Common Core State Standards, differentiate resources to reach every student, and incorporate resources with other technology programs, such as BrainPOP or National Geographic.

HP’s new self-service publishing platform allows educators and students to develop and print high-quality booklets with no upfront costs. Yearbooks, literary magazines and students’ digital portfolios can be stored as digital copies and printed on demand with a variety of print, binding and shipping options.

YourTeacher is a digital publisher specializing in middle school, high school and college math that has provided online and app-based math tutoring and test preparation since 2000. The Algebra 1 iBook, dubbed a textbook with a teacher inside, is a full algebra 1 course aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Each 60-minute lesson includes instruction from a personal math teacher. This product can be downloaded at the Apple iBookstore.

This new tablet from Toshiba is a high-powered device equipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The durable tablet is made of aluminum and plastic and is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Its small size makes it comfortable for kids to hold, and it weighs just 13.4 ounces. The battery will last an entire school day.
